Key Account Manager – Fast Moving Consumer Goods

The Key Account Manager – FMCG (Food & Beverage) is responsible for leading and developing strategic relationships with assigned key accounts to drive sustainable revenue growth, profitability, and market share within the FMCG Food & Beverage category. The role focuses on long-term account strategy, high-value commercial negotiations, and execution excellence across pricing, promotions, trade investments, and visibility initiatives.

The position plays a critical role in aligning customer objectives with Almuftah Group’s commercial goals by working cross-functionally with Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Merchandising teams. This role directly contributes to strengthening brand presence, optimizing trade spending, improving receivables performance, and enhancing customer satisfaction within modern trade, traditional trade, and emerging channels.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Key Account Ownership: Own and manage assigned strategic key accounts within the Food & Beverage FMCG category, acting as the primary commercial point of contact and ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  2. Revenue and Profit Growth Management: Drive topline sales growth, gross margin improvement, and market share expansion through disciplined account planning and execution.
  3. Account Planning and Strategy Development: Develop and implement annual and long-term strategic account plans that align customer objectives with brand, category, and organizational goals.
  4. Commercial Negotiations: Lead high-value negotiations related to pricing, trade margins, promotions, contracts, listing fees, and in-store visibility to maximize profitability while maintaining strong customer relationships.
  5. Trade Spend and ROI Optimization: Control and optimize trade investments, ensuring promotions, discounts, and visibility initiatives deliver positive return on investment (ROI).
  6. Customer Relationship Management: Maintain regular engagement with key customers to assess satisfaction, resolve issues proactively, and identify new business opportunities.
  7. Receivables and Credit Control: Ensure timely collection of outstanding receivables, obtain balance confirmations, and coordinate closely with the Finance Department for account reconciliation.
  8. Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate effectively with Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Merchandising teams to ensure smooth execution of commercial plans and product availability.
  9. Market and Competitive Intelligence: Monitor market trends, shopper behavior, competitor activity, and consumer insights within the Food & Beverage FMCG sector to inform strategic decisions.
  10. Contract Management and Compliance: Ensure contract compliance, track performance against agreed terms, and manage timely contract renewals.
  11. Sales Forecasting and Reporting: Prepare accurate sales forecasts, performance reports, and business reviews for management, highlighting risks and growth opportunities.
  12. Operational Excellence: Ensure adherence to company policies, trade governance standards, and ethical business practices across all accounting activities.
  13. Team Management and Leadership: Manage, motivate and enhance the performances of the team. Also develop them for futuristic opportunities. Attend Trainings and upgrade the knowledge.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, Sales, or a related field.
  • Professional Experiences:
    • Minimum 5–10 years of experience in Key Account Management – Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Sales, or Business   Development in the same industry.
    • Strong commercial and financial acumen related to FMCG operations.
    • Proven track record of managing large or strategic client accounts, preferably within modern trade or e-commerce channels
  • Competencies:
    • Deep understanding of Food & Beverage FMCG dynamics, retail operations, and shopper behavior
    • Strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities
    • Proven ability to manage Profit & Loss (P&L) and trade investment budgets
    • Strategic mindset with strong execution discipline
    • Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills
    • Control trade spending (discounts, pricing, promotions, in-store visibility costs)
    • Evaluate whether promotions deliver positive ROI (Return on Investment)
    • Ability to balance volume growth with profitability
    • High level of professionalism and ethical conduct
    • Ability to Coach and develop the team
    • Ability to have high level of analysis and data driven decision making
