Planning Engineer

The Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and updating detailed project schedules in coordination with project teams to ensure timely, cost effective, and efficient project execution. The role involves progress tracking, reporting, risk analysis, and supporting project control processes in compliance with contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning & Scheduling
    • Develop baseline project schedules using Primavera P6 / MS Project.
    • Prepare work breakdown structures (WBS) aligned with project scope.
    • Establish logical sequencing, activity durations, and resource loading.
    • Maintain and update short‑term and long‑term schedules.
  • Progress Monitoring & Control
    • Collect daily, weekly, and monthly progress data from site teams.
    • Analyze planned vs. actual progress and identify schedule variances.
    • Prepare recovery and mitigation plans for schedule delays.
    • Monitor critical path activities and project milestones.
  • Reporting
    • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, including S‑curves and dashboards.
    • Generate manpower, equipment, and productivity reports.
    • Support delay analysis, including EOT claims and impact assessments.
    • Provide schedule updates for management and client meetings.
  • Coordination & Communication
    • Coordinate with Project Managers, Site Engineers, QS, Procurement, and Subcontractors.
    • Support procurement and material delivery scheduling.
    • Attend progress meetings and present planning updates.
    • Ensure compliance with contractual scheduling requirements.
  • Risk & Claims Support
    • Identify schedule risks and potential delays.
    • Support delay analysis techniques (e.g., impacted as‑planned, as‑built analysis).
    • Assist in claiming documentation and correspondence.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in construction planning (projects/buildings/infrastructure).
  • Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6 (mandatory).
  • Experience with large‑scale construction projects is preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Primavera P6, MS Project, Excel, and reporting tools.
  • Good understanding of construction methods and sequencing.
  • Strong communication and coordination abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
